Los Angeles has taken over Venice Blvd from the state and is now in the process of considering street upgrades and repaving to bring the street up to a good state of repair. Venice is the only street entirely inside the City of Los Angeles that stretches from DTLA to the ocean. It connects a wide number of diverse communities, was once a red-car route, and is on the city's High Injury Network. We need to jump on this opportunity to make sure LA follows its own mobility plan and proper bus, bicycle, and pedestrian facilities are installed.
We believe that our air doesn’t have to be smoggy. We believe that we don’t need to have one of the highest rates of childhood asthma in the United States. We believe that we don’t have to have some of the worst traffic in the country. We believe that people live happier and healthier lives when they aren’t stuck in traffic. We believe that people should be able to move around the city safely, regardless of their income, zip code, or means of transportation.
We believe the time has come for L.A. to do better.
